If you’re looking to improve your heart health, one of the most important things to consider is how to reduce stress.

Stress is a major contributor to heart disease, so it’s essential to find ways to manage it effectively. One option to consider is using a mobile app that combines heart rate monitoring with relaxation techniques. This idea is not new – in fact, Apple released an app called HeartWatch in 2007 that used sensors in iPhones to measure heart rate and provided guided breathing exercises and visualizations to help users relax. However, the app was not widely adopted due to its high price and limited compatibility with third-party devices.

In this article, we will explore three alternative to HeartWatch heart rate monitoring apps :

#1 Heart Rate | Pulse Checker & Breathing

The mobile app uses photoplethysmography (PPG), a non-invasive optical technique, to track heart rate and provide insights into cardio fitness. It allows users to check their heart rate using their finger or wrist and offers short comments on the recently recorded heartbeat level. In addition, the app includes several types of breathing exercises to help users calm down and manage stress, including standard, focus, and stress relief options. All activity and history are recorded and can be accessed on the app’s statistics dashboard. Currently, the app with a breathing feature is available for Android devices, but it will soon be released for iOS as well.

#2 Welltory

Welltory is a popular mobile app that is used by 5 million users and has received funding from multiple sources. It has also been featured in tech and lifestyle publications. The app provides users with detailed daily health metrics, including sleep analytics, heart rate and HRV, workout advice, blood pressure, stress and energy levels. Based on these metrics, the app offers personalized recommendations for breathing exercises and other strategies to help users manage stress, insomnia, and other disorders.

In addition to being compatible with a range of wearable devices, such as Polar, Garmin, FitBit, Oura, MiFit, and Withings, Welltory can also sync with various productivity and meditation apps. This allows users to easily incorporate the app into their daily routine and track their progress over time.

#3 PulseBit

PulseBit helps users track their cardio health by measuring stress levels, energy, activity, sleep, and emotional tension. To support users in managing their anxiety, the app includes a thoughts diary and mood reporting feature. All of this information is recorded and can be accessed on the app’s statistics dashboard, providing users with data-driven insights into their heart and mental health. This can help users identify patterns and trends in their health and take steps to improve their well-being.
