The CAPABLE project, an acronym for CAncer PAtients Better Life Experience, aims to develop a support system for improving the quality of life of cancer home patients by combining technologies for data and knowledge management with socio-psychological models and theories.
Our expertise in the project
- Business analysis
- User Experience Design
- User Interface Design
- Project Management
The coaching system offers comprehensive support for patients, their home caregivers, and physicians via mobile and web apps. The analysis of the collected data and its integration with existing clinical practice guidelines enable early detection of cancer-related issues, patient-specific decision support, and cancer research advancements.
Bitsens advances CAPABLE’s user experience by developing its mobile app user interface (UI) for patients and caregivers as well as a dashboard for healthcare professionals. The design pursues the following objectives:
- Identify new patients’ and home caregivers’ needs
- Promote patients’ engagement
- Boost patients’ compliance to treatment
- Tackle patients’ emotional issues
- Support the use of computer-interpretable guidelines (CIGs) for healthcare professionals
- Improve clinical workflow
The CAPABLE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 875052 and is taking place from January 2020 to December 2023. Besides Bitsens, the project consortium includes 11 business and academic partners from Italy, Israel, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, and the UK.
